What Do We Understand By Botox?
Botox is a neurotoxic protein which is produced by the bacteria known as clostridium botulinum. It is a drug which can help in reducing skin wrinkles and help in treating other medical conditions too. Botox treats muscle movement, which causes wrinkles called dynamic wrinkles or expression lines.
It is a cosmetic treatment carefully handled by botox specialists.
BOTOX PROCEDURE – In this treatment, we use botulinum toxin( neuromodulators or neurotoxins) power, diluting it in saline and directly inject into neuromuscular tissues.
HOW does BOTOX PROCEDURE WORK?
Since it is a neurotoxin, it will target the nervous system by depleting or disrupting the nerve signalling process that helps in muscle contraction.Botox injection prevents the release of acetylcholine which stops the muscle cells from contracting and prevents wrinkles. Your muscle strength shows how much botox you need for the treatment.
TREATMENT OF BOTOX AND ITS EFFECTIVENESS – It takes 2-3 days for the toxin to work. In rare cases, it can take five days to show full effectiveness. Botox treatment can vary from individual to individual.
BOTOX TREATMENT-This treatment can b used for two purposes, i.e. COSMETIC USE and MEDICAL USE.

BOTOX FOR ACNE TREATMENT:- Botox treatment prevents blistering lesions(acne) caused due to HAILEY-HAILEY disease(a genetic disorder). Reduce facial redness and flushing.
MEDICAL USES:- For the medical purpose, this treatment needs an individual to atleast be 18 years or older..
It prevents underarm sweating or HYPERHIDROSIS.
Prevents BLEPHAROSPASM or eyelid spasm
Prevents neurological movement disorder known as CERVICAL DYSTONIA which affects the neck and the head.
BOTOX TREATMENT COST:
The cost of Botox treatment depends on various factors.
The place where botox treatment was done.
Quantity of botox units were involved (twenty units for wrinkled face)
Purposes of whether the botox treatment is for medical or cosmetic use.
BRANDS under which botulinum toxin made treatment are sold: Dysport, cosmetic and Xeomin.
COMMON SIDE EFFECTS:
Most of the side effects of this treatment is temporary. The possible side effect of Botox treatments depending on everybody’s physiology:-
Muscle weakness or paralysis of the muscles.
Redness in the area where the doctor has done the Botox treatment.
Pain and numbness in the area where the doctor did the Botox treatment.
Most common side effect people may experience is a headache.
People may experience blurred vision.
People may experience difficulty in breathing and swallowing too.
On fine lines or wrinkles known as static wrinkles, because of sagging Botox will not work. Areas, where static wrinkles are present, are: cheeks, neck and jowl areas(chin or jawline)
The people may experience dryness of the eyes.
Stomach upset, i.e. constipation, diarrhoea.
THIS TREATMENT IS NOT LIFE LONG TREATMENT ( scheduled treatment)
People who are allergic to cow’s milk protein should not go for this treatment.
PRECAUTIONS BEFORE THE TREATMENT:
Avoid taking a few medicines such as aspirin, ibuprofen, Advil etc. at least one weak before the treatment.
Avoid taking fish oil supplements and vitamin E also.
PRECAUTIONS AFTER THE TREATMENT:
People should not drink alcohol after the treatment should be done.
People should avoid putting pressure on the injected area.
People should avoid taking other skin treatments.
People are advised not to touch your face more often to stop spreading the toxins.
After treatment, no strenuous exercise should be done (weight training, long-distance running) only light exercise should be done i:e walking, jogging, gardening.
People are advised to stay upright for a few hours after the Botox treatment is done.
People are advised to avoid wearing hats and headbands for a few days.
If redness appears on the injected areas, it is advised to apply ice or cold compress for a few minutes to decrease redness.
People are advised to stay upright because bending forward may increase the blood circulation, which leads the injected material to move, e.g. If the injected area is present around the eyes. Because the movement of injected material migrates, it leads to droopy eyelids.
